水葫芦学名凤眼莲，别称水浮莲、假水仙等。原产于南美委内瑞拉，后传播到世界上60多个国家。它生命力旺盛，在15℃～40℃的气温下，只要置于水中便能疯狂繁殖开来。每株分出多支匍匐茎，茎端再长新株，八九天翻一番，90天内可分出25万棵新株。水葫芦的繁殖会严重阻碍河道，造成交通不便，抢占水面，使水中氧气不足，窒息鱼类。
